Who we are. Hero of This Book is operated by Laïla Benbouja EI, Quimper, France (contact: hello@heroofthisbook.com).

The photo. The photo you upload is used once: an AI vision model writes a short, non-identifying description of visible features (hair, eyes, glasses…). The photo is then deleted from our storage, normally within two minutes and in all cases within 24 hours. The photo is never sent to the image-generation model, never shared with the printer, and never used to train any model. Only the text description and the generated illustrations are kept.

What we keep. The child's first name, age, the story choices, your e-mail, the shipping address and phone number needed to print and deliver the book, and the generated book files (kept 90 days for reprints, then deleted).

Who processes data for us. OpenAI (illustrations and photo description), Supabase (storage, EU/US), Stripe (payment — we never see your card), Lulu Press (printing and shipping; receives name, address, phone and the book files), Resend (e-mails), Vercel (hosting).

Your rights. E-mail us to access, correct or delete your data at any time. EU residents may contact the CNIL; UK residents the ICO.

Children. Our service is for adults (parents and gift-givers). We do not knowingly collect data directly from children under 13 (US) or 16 (EU/UK).
